What flashlights are you using as battery carriers ?

Am not a big fan of carrying spare cells for the most part; the runtimes we are obtaining these days (for modest outputs) have made this less necessary than in the past, IMO.

However, a few of my less-used lights are seeing frequent duty as battery carriers - it it great to have backup lighting with a common cell:

  • SureFire U2 - household light, carrying an 18650 that almost always rotates into my EDC Boss70 for subsequent depletion.
  • Muyshondt Mako Flood - in my daypack, carrying an AAA Eneloop which often rotates into my far-thirstier MS/Fenix LD01.

Best regards,

Agree, lights are way more efficient these days, and as a veteran flashaholic I use mainly longer running lower levels (Arch's Peak). I rarely carry backup cells unless I am traveling or camping.

What is it that they say? The quickest reload for a sidearm is another sidearm quickly accessible? Backup Zebralight for main Zebralight, saving the battery change for a controlled environment with charger at hand. Gave wife the same setup.

For my HDS (cr123) I either use an Oveready battery capsule or my PK-PR1.

When using the HDS 18650, it's either a match case with a spare or (more often) my Malkoff MD2 M61N. The Malkoff serves two purposes; one it holds a spare battery and two if I need high for a longer time, the Malkoff doesn't get as warm.

A bonus, the Malkoff is 4000k (my preferred tint) vs the HDS NLT at 5000k.

I use and Acebeam TK16 or Olight S1 Mini. Neither is much bigger than a 16340 battery case and reliable enough lights to use on own.
