I find that the hex bezel helps avoid fall- through even without a clip, but I've experienced what you describe and agree one must be careful.

Hi guys! This is my first post here. I know this is OT but I have an Arc SLS #666 and I love it! The number just makes it that much more special IMHO.

Second KL1 from LPS #875.

OK, this one is brighter and bluer then the one I got from countycomm.

Side by side comparison, one is on an E2 and the other on an E2e, both with fresh batteries.

A00291. What does the A stand for? I think all my Surefire lights start with A. I will say this for Surefire. They sure can ramp up production in a hurry and they don't seem to release the product until sufficient quantities are available.

Number 300 arrived in Carriere, Ms today. Got it from brightguy.

238 direct from SF. I expected it to be a LOT brigher than my ARC-LS...but it's not. The tint is better, and it is brighter. But considering the LS uses standard AA's it's a much better bargain in the long run. Don't get me wrong, I still like the KL and it's a great way to burn the 123's down and always have fresh batteries in the incandescent. I look forward to seeing my KL2 and KL3 once they're released.

Why would it be available in HK before US? It was my understanding these were manufactured in the US...Not that I care.

Walt,

As it so turned out, I was the first on the SF books to have some KL1's on order. At the time I also placed a KL2 on order. This was back in July. I was told that some of the overseas dealers had placed their orders with SF before some of the domestic dealers had. I was also told that SF ships on a first ordered, first shipped basis. Back in July, they were actually starting to assemble the KL2. I believe this might explain why some of the product got to Hong Kong first. Unfortunately, SF's shipping doesn't always follow the first ordered, first shipped program. Appearantly because I had made some modifications to my order as time passed, it somehow fell out of que and I had to wait for the second wave of KL1's to go out to get mine.

One item I had canceled was the KL2 as I ended up getting one from PK in appreciation for some sample hardware and product I had supplied him for review. I got this KL1 a few months back and yet the serial number is A01007 ? I wonder if some of the first run went to the military as well as to offshore dealers.........

One aside I will make on the KL2 is that I believe you can count on a consistancy in beam color, brightness and pattern :-) We're talking Nichia NSPW500BS here I believe.

Since the little footed guy from UK is lurking around here, is there an adapter available to the public that will allow a standard sized 2 cell SF to host the KL2, Al? My suspicion is that a 3 cell body with a dummie cell is the most effficient way to go? One final question: Since the KL2 uses a current limiting circuit, does it also require the CE approval?

- Don

Actually, the KL2's are out. I got in my batches of -2's before the -1's have even arrived (tomorrow- darn other coast!). Very nicely done on the KL2's. SN's are in the 1300+ range with no CE.

McG,
Thanks for clearing that up. It makes sense to me now.
I've read the run-times of the KL2's is only about an hour and a half. Then it starts going down rapidly. Is that true? I would think on 9 volts it would run substantially longer before trailing off.

You may call me little footed if your feet are both over 12" long!

Hmmm. Perhaps. But it will cost more then you think.

It won't match very well:
The [HA] adapter that comes with the LU10 or LU15 Lamp Modules; An A21 body adapter [BK] and a Z41 [BK] LOTC creates a two SF123A body with threads to attach a bezel such as the KL2 or Millennium TurboHead that is threaded on the inside like the Z46 (M3 Bezel)

Cost?
No idea - you need to talk to SureFire about whether the adapter that forms part of the LU10 & LU15 is sold on it's own...

Al
