I while back I starting looking at an additional source of power for my Milwaukee M12 electric heated hoodie. Rather than buy additional OEM Milwaukee batteries, I decided to try a power bank. I ended up buying two Anker PowerCore Speed 10000 QC power banks. One works well and the other one does not. So, I have returned the one that did not work very well.

Now, I am considering buying a Nitecore NPB2 waterproof power bank. Although it is more expensive than the Anker PowerCore Speed 10000 QC power banks, it may be a bit more versatile.

Anyway, it states that it is "equipped with 2 x 5,000mAh 21700 Li-ion batteries." When I look on the Nitecore.com website and Battery Junction websites, there are several different 21700 5000mAh batteries. The model numbers I have seen so far are as follows:

Nitecore NL2150HPR

Nitecore NL2150R

Nitecore NL2150HP

Nitecore NL2150

Nirecore NL2150i

Nitecore NL2150HPi

How can I determine which batteries the Nitecore NPB2 uses? What are the differences in the batteries above?

As near as I can tell, the Nitecore NPB2 contains the NL2150.

Can anybody here confirm that?

I don't know why it really matters. The batteries are not removable and not replaceable.

At the power required for that battery pack, they could put two batteries rated at only 5 amps capacity and discharge rate(vs. 8 or 15 amps discharge rate) and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference so it doesn't matter. Some of their cells are rated at 4, 4.5, or 5 amps. Some are rated at 5, 8, and 15 amp discharge rate. Then they have their i series batteries with positive and negative terminals on one side. They also have usb rechargeable cells and cold weather rated cells. HP means high power (probably 15 amp rated). R means usb rechargeable. i means i series (positive and negative terminals at positive end). 21 is for the size 21700, 50 is for the capacity, 5000 mAh. You can figure it out from there.

Thank you for the replies.

I was thinking that they were removable/replaceable, but now that I no they are not, I will look at something else.

Try an Xtar PB2S battery charger and power bank with your choice of a couple unprotected 21700s. $17 for the charger and $5-$10 each for the batteries. (18650batterystore.com) I use 2 5 amp Samsungs in mine. Does not fit protected cells. If you need the batteries in a light that only takes button top cells, put a harbor freight rare earth magnet on the positive end.

I'm curious. What about battery venting in a sealed design? Non-issue since both input and output are controlled?
