Which LED bulb would I get to replace this incan bulb?

Most LED conversion bulbs require the center pin (tip) to be connected to the postive side of the batteries. Some lanterns don't follow this convention, so it would be helpful to check your lantern first, before buying the conversion bulb. (Sometimes, you can also install the batteries backwards to remedy the problem).

Assuming your lantern has the bulb tip connected to battery positive, the Nite-Ize PR bulb conversion might make a good choice. It's not as bright as the original incandescent bulb, but the lower current drain will make your batteries last a LOT longer. Costs about 8 bucks at Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

The circuit board is connected to the positive contact on 1 of the 4 batteries, so I don't think that would be a problem.

I'm assuming I would replace it with the same type LED drop-in I used in my mil-style 2D anglehead light, but with one intended to used with 4AAs. Can't remember where I got the 2D LED replacement bulb???

The Nite-Ize bulb is usable with 2 to 6 cell flashlights (AAA, AA, C or D size cells), but works best with 3+ cells. There are no separate models for each voltage or battery size - just a single, one-size-fits-all version.

Tektite LPR-113™ Four Cell LED-Replacement bulb. This is expensive but has a side emitter -the light goes sideways which is perfect for the minibrite.

I used to steal the bulb from one of these but they are kind of dim. The Dorcy version has 200 hours (HA!) on the package. It has a wide angle LED in it so a fair amount of light goes sideways.

Now on clearance as Dorcy is introducing a 1/2 watt version. Do not know if that one has a PR bulb.

The following 2 has a narrower beam pattern. Light tends to go up towards the ceiling. Frosting the surface of the bulb with some sandpaper will help make the light go in all directions.
