G'day all, new to this forum & have been reading for weeks, man I never thought you could do so many mods to an "black alum tube with a bulb at one end"

I'm going for a 2C with AW's driver & li Ion C cells driving a 5761, however I am stuck as to which reflector to use.

From what I have found there is only fivemega & litho 123 that do alum reflectors.
I'm thinking going the fivemega vlop, as I want throw more so than flood, they also look well made.

Have not seen any photos of litho 123's reflectors & from what I can gather does a smooth, MOP & HOP. The smooth might also be the go but not sure what the hot spot will be like.
Any comments on what reflector works well with the 5761.

The 5761 puts out so much light that I like a MOP reflector with it. I may try a Stippled one one I get my driver back from AW, since at lower levels the added spill would be nice, while on high the loads of output will throw enough for me.

A VLOP will have some artifacts, but they only really matter when you shine your light on the wall in front of you . If you search for the forums there are several beam comparison threads.

Hi Anticoll,

I have a Fivemega VLOP reflector in my 5761 2C Mag. In a white-wall comparison, the beam quality definitely comes in behind that of my 2C ROP with a MOP reflector (also from Fivemega). However, I hadn't yet had a chance to properly center (axially and also relative to the focus of the reflector) the driver/switch and bulb before I sent the driver back to AW for repair. I'm hoping the beam quality will improve once I get that dialed in.

Conventional wisdom holds that a smoother-finish reflector will throw further than a more textured reflector, at the price of possibly more artifacts in the beam. In my limited experience, that has held true. Let your planned uses of the light inform your decision about which reflector to use.
