Hey guys, so far various companies have been of little help, including PIAA.

Picked up a set of what appear to be black & chrome 1400 fogs on the cheap. Only thing is, I'd rather not cut my factory wiring and the plugs they came with are different. My 96 GT has 893 fogs stock- does anybody know what that part would be to splice into the fog pigtails so they are plug-n-play with the factory stuff? So-and-so female connector, I'd assume, unless somebody has a better idea? :duh2:

What 96 GT? The easiest would be to use 3M T-Tap connectors. I use them all the time and never had a problem yet. Use a test light to check for positive and negative. There a bit expensive at Parts-Express but you can search for them just about anywhere. Be sure to use insulated Female spade connectors with the t-taps it helps to keep out water. Also an installers note if the connector seems to not be working check the female spade connector sometimes the pin gets pushed to the side and doesn't go into the t-tap properly.

Ohgawd, no. Those crunch taps are schlock; they create mechanically-weak, high-resistance connections (minimal contact area) and aren't even a little bit weatherproof so water can wick into the wire and corrode it. Use Posi-Taps if you want to maintain the integrity of your car's wiring. More info on them is here.

(No, I don't work for them or sell them or put them on my hamburgers or anything, I just like 'em and have seen enough messes created by the crunch-type connectors that I had to speak up.)

Nifty Never seen those before:whistle: I have had good luck with the 100 or so remote starters I have installed (thankfully it seems). However those connections are under the dash and well secured (when done properly). The Posi-Taps may be a better all weather solution. :naughty:

Edit: Ouch they are pricey

I have lost count of the number of times I've seen desperate owners of no-longer-new cars wailing about the electrical problems they're having...and watched it turn out to have been the fault of an aftermarket remote starter or alarm installation.

Yeah, the posi-things are pricy up front. Cheap in the long run!

use the 893 bulb. You won't be needing it for light, so bash the glass off and just use the socket with some wires and such.

Or tap the wires.

Its probably a Delphi Connector of some sort. If you look on the connector body on the car, it might even say Delphi or PED on it.

I fished around on www.powerandsignal.com looking for the connector version of the molded housing on the bulb. It looks like the connector on the car could be Delphi 12020599. I don't see any mention of a mating connector for it, only that it mates to bulbs in the 88X/89X series.

If you want to try changing the connector on the car, I think I have both sides of a mating connector that could work for you.
