I've tried a few other Chinese lights - Fenix, Olight and Dereelight. They're all OK. Yesterday I got Wolf Eyes #2 - an Eagle 4AF, a rechargeable, 200 lumen incan running on two LRB168 LiIon batteries. I also got their car charger (the light came with an AC charger and batteries), spare batteries and the LED tailcap.
WE #1 was the Boxer 10W HID. I was very impressed with it, so went with them again!
First impressions are very good indeed. The light comes in a black gift box, with every component in it's own foam compartment. All threads are finely cut and very smooth - o-rings nicely greased. Everything that should turn turns butter smooth. Nothing that shouldn't turn doesn't. Finish is black anodizing and is flawless. The body is checkered except for two flats on opposite sides - WOLF-EYES is printed one side, EAGLE-4 on the other. Checkering is nicely done, but not as aggressive as Surefire.
The light is not small at nearly 8" long. Body is 1" diameter and the head is 1.7" diameter. The tailcap is 1.2" at the widest area. So this isn't a pocket light.
Operation of the light is simple as can be. It uses the same sort of momentary pushbutton/screw the cap down to lock on system as many Surefires. The button is not a clickie. That's fine.
The LED tailcap is a $16 option that I highly recommend. You retain the momentary operation. Partially tightening the tailcap illuminates 4 white LEDs which really put out quite a lot of light. The LED assembly is now your pushbutton, so it doesn't change operation at all, and the LED lens is recessed slightly.
Runtime is 80 minutes on incan, 60 hours on the tailcap. The tailcap is also available in red.
So, what's the output like? I don't have any way to measure it, but it's a LOT brighter than my SF A2! People have measured the A2 at 80 lumens. The Eagle easily doubles that. Throw is much farther with a larger spot size, and the beam is just as white on fresh batteries. Of course the light is not regulated like the A2 so that will change as the batteries droop. And the comparison is unfair since this is a 9V light with a considerably larger head, Still, it's very impressive. The beam is smooth, tight and free of artifacts. It is also focusable, which widens the beam at the expense of some beam quality.
So far I have seen absolutely NOTHING to dislike about Wolf Eyes lights. Except their instructions, which make for some entertaining reading. But I consider them the Chinese Surefire (I have four Surefires, and my standards are high), and have WE #3, an Eagle 4AX 12V 300 lumen incan, on the way in. I can see myself buying quite a few of them. Indeed, my next purchase is going to be another WE - this time possibly their Guider.
WE seems to be selling a light that uses the Surefire philosophy; Keep it simple, make it right. I like 'em!
