Would you be interested in a Solarforce flat bezel for L2 serie ?

Like RepProdigious did here, i tried to sand a Solarforce L2P aluminum bezel until it was completely flat in order to cut the light's spill as less as possible. A thin lip was kept to cover the edge of the head in order to protect the anodization. It was a quick test to see how it will look like. The result is too "massive" for my taste because it is completely flat without inner bevel to reduce the flat surface.

Side by side, the black L2P with a Xeno bezel looks much better, unfortunately the threads aren't compatibles.

There is a Solarforce flat bezel but it doesn't protect the edge of the head, there is a small crenelated one but there isn't a real flat one yet.

So i would like to know if L2's users would be interested with a real flat stainless steel bezel, let's say a polished one and/or another one sandblasted (matte finish) to avoid reflect(s) that could produce outter ring(s) in the beam.

I will probably send the link of this thread to solarforce.hk in a couple of weeks if there are enough votes to be representative.

Yes I myself have tried mentioning replacing their existing flat bezel with one that actually gives you some protection for the rim of the head to a Solarforce rep I've messaged before. They seem very interested in our ideas, but the reality is that it takes time for them to implement production changes. Though I do think this thread is a good idea and if we can get enough people to be interested, maybe it could push for faster development of such a new bezel from them.

I would prefer all the solarforce L2 series come with a flat bezel as the default and have crenelated bezels as an option.

In fact I agree.
If carried without holster in pocket, crenelated bezel is maybe not the most wanted option.

...and yes, I would be interested in flat bezel. Shiny or matte.

Wow, I'm surprised that more Solarforce owners haven't chimed in here yet.

Put me down for 2 flat satin ones. Just received my first L2's and I'm officially hooked. Like was stated above, wish they came standard. The look is much more clean and professional. :twothumbs

I recently stumbled upon Solarforce L2 series flashlights myself and I'm hooked! I've seen all the cool polished flat bezels from other brands, so I would love to see one from Solarforce. :twothumbs

I'm quite happy with the low profile crenelated one that Solarforce made available.
Yes, it is quite nice but IMHO, beyond style consideration, a crenelation as low is a little bit "useless" and probably cuts a little bit more spill of a floody drop-in than a completely flat one.
I will probably order a couple of low crenelation bezel rings to flatten them instead of asking and waiting for a real flat ring.

I would be interested in a 'Flat Black' flat protective bezel in a blued dull
steel (sometimes referred to as stonewashed black steel - same a belt clips
on $ureFire C2/C3's). Depending on price and finish I would order 2.

warning - opinion: I think the polished bezels look a bit 'prissy' & tend to give
off side reflection that hits your eye when working close. This is coming from
someone who is not a collector rather I have to use my lights as everyday tools.

That sounds cool too, but I really can't see them making something so specific. To me a part like that would be more likely from a company that makes custom parts...like what Oveready does for Surefires. From the way Solarforce usually does things, they would probably end up just making it either out of unpolished or polished stainless steel and would be available in black only if they made it part of a new flashlight (like the small crenulated one featured on the L2P, which they also made a separate polished SS one at the same time).

Their existing polished small crenulated bezel I have on many of my Solarforce L2 flashlights and I like the way it looks...I can see why many flashlight makers have done this from a style standpoint. Personally, I really like that polished bezels reflect some light and it doesn't bother me. My most often used flashlights are Solarforce L2s at the moment with the polished bezel and I never felt it to be a distraction during use. To each their own I guess.
