Does anyone have a guess when these new XP-G LED will be installed in their range? Kind of like how they switches from CE to Q5 and now going from Q5 to R2, when do you think we could expect to see a PD30 with the new XP-G led?

They'll switch to XP-G after the next generation BEYOND XP-G is released....but their XP-G lights will be very good when they do.

Ever thought they might not last that long given 4seven's dominance over it?

This is why i asked, i saw cree quoting him as using them in his lights or at least plans too (not sure which it is).

Fenix needs to do something, who will buy a 235 lumen light if they can get 335 lumens for the same battery life from another brand?

I personally will be buying a PD30+ in the next few days hopefully when they are available anyway just to have something new. However i would jump at the chance to buy a new super powerful LED without feeling like i need to switch brand.

What do you mean by "they might not last that long"? Surely you're not suggesting Quark will put Fenix out of business in the next year.

Yes I am looking to get a PD30+ to just wish I knew who was going to get them. I havn't even considered waiting for a XP-G, I'm not very patient and have learned to stop resisting a long time ago.

You ask who buy a 235lm Fenix over a 335 Quark, well that would be me.

IDK? I would say 4sevens was one of Fenix's big sellers but now that 4sevens has their line of lights you hardly even hear Fenix mentioned (or at least not like you used to before 4sevens came out with the Quark line)

Well i have seen them on fenixstore's site for pre-order, but i am going to get mine more locally from the photonshop. I myself am impatient also lol.. I cant wait for anything that i know i could decide to get one now.

Me too.

I prefer the floody Fenix beam. I am hoping the Quark XP-G has a wider profile beam but that would probably anger most users here.

The Fenix regular color looks just right to me. What users here call warm looks yellow to me. (SACRILEGE! i hope i don't spot a mob of my fellow members with torches trekking up from town to burn my castle!)

I did order a Quark Ti123-XP-G for fun because I think it is a great bargain but unless the beamshots have wider hotspots and brighter spill it will be strictly a toy for me. I use flashlights indoors and in dark parking lots. I have no use for tight throw beams.

I've tried filters to get floody beams like the one that came with my ET T20C but they just seem to dim the entire beam to the brightness of the original spill rather than distributing the hotspot more evenly.

I'm half expecting 4Sevens.com (they are not carried on the Canadian and Polish sites) to stop carrying Fenix at some point, when the Quarks and other 4Sevens creations take off even more than they already have.

GM will put Honda out of business before Quark buries Fenix IMHO.

Good luck with the motor industry version of AIG

4sevens definitely have to potential.

Be patient... you don't actually need that fenix xpg flashlight do you?

It is never good to be a early adoptor every time new stuffs comes out. In the case of 4sevens, well, it was the titanium that got me.

We will have 3xR4 1000+ lumens flashlights by this xmas, I'm pretty sure.

Manufacturers are trying to get rid of their current inventory, just look at marketplace, many of them have items on sale. Something big is coming.:D

For some reason, the more a company is said to "dominate" a market, the less I want to buy from them. So I sincerely hope that the flashlight market doesn't go that way. If there's healthy competition, then I consider all choices. Otherwise, I don't like to support the dominant company.

lol, sure, you can enjoy your different path, I'd be happy with Quark's
- up-to-date emitters (vs Q5 and R2)
- square threads
- higher highs
- lower lows
- with equal runtime/output efficiency
- and lower prices
- and equally fugly aesthetics.. (yes, referring to the LXD/ LDX0 series)

So in your opinion, which non-dominating company is worth a look at? =)

I would be surprised if fenix isn't making the quarks. Accordingly, if 7777 doesn't have contractual exclusivity, fenix is simply to busy to update their own stuff.

The Quarks look like Fenix makes them to me...that funky 2AA barrel tends to give it away.

Fenix usually is the first adopters with the new LEDs, the Cree XR-E was a strong seller and put Fenix up there. I don't see them delaying putting together lights with the XP-G. However...

4Sevens let us know what Fenix was up to, now he does that with Quarks. I'm sure Fenix will be shipping XP-G lights this month but David is not motivated to give us Fenix reports.

I plan on getting a Quark 2AA with turbo head and XP-G R5 to see how the new tech works out. The race is on and this is the calm before the storm. Peak LED Solutions is coming out with XP-G lights so they are coming soon to a forum near you.

Agreed, although for me its, i wouldnt be surprised if it was fenix doing the production for david. I mean, its been pointed out on many occassions that there are marked similarities between quarks and fenixes. and afaik 4sevens started out as a fenix dealer....so I'm sure david has his loyalites.
