Looking at the equipment on the roof of the train it seems that it is an electric one operated by overhead wires (?). So it probably lost all power as it left the tracks.

Yes. It's either a C10 or C11 EMU made by ASEA. More about the Saltsjöbanan line and equipment here. The trains are basically modified Metro cars, which means they're capable of accelerating quite rapidly. Evidently whoever decided to take it on a joy ride built up too much speed too fast without realizing they couldn't stop in time.
