The other day I received 4 cree leds out of nowhere (I dont even recall if I ever ordered that samples)

So the leds were: 7090s Red, Green & White and 4550 Blue

What did I did with the Red Green & Blue? I connected them in series to a 9V battery to test if leds without any calibration can create something that appears white.

The answer was: pretty close! the projected light was clearly whiteish but with a tint tending to red.

I dont have a pic of it because is difficult to perceive a tint from a flood light.

My surprise came when I crossed my hand over the gizmo :wow:

I called my son and we had some "RGB fun" . These images were projected on the rooms ceiling:

As you can see, the RGB gizmo is high tech :D specially the switch :ohgeez: (battery terminal touches the nut and closes the circuit)

:wow:  :goodjob: Pablo,

VERY impressive and looks like a LOT of fun! You should fuse this phenomena with your transparent acrylic light body and make a clear projection RGB light! Just throwing some of your unique ideas in a blender. I might have to order some colored LEDs now myself if someone wont build me a similar toy! ;)

Cool !
Reminds me of a similar effect (albeit less powerful) that can be done with an Eternalight Raven ...

That's cool Pablo!! :grin2: Thanks for sharing!! I can imagine some interesting kinetic light sculpturing done base on that!

I will try to control all three leds with a PIC microcontroller to create any color, I already purchased the needed parts, more news to come :)

Pablo, your electrically-isolating main heatsink is also a piece of art! :D

This is part 2 :)

After playing with the first version I tought it would be cool to sweep the whole color spectrum controlling the LEDs with a PIC microcontroller.

So this is the new gizmo:

Obvious comments:

these mosfets are too much! I know, I went to a local shop last friday at 5.30PM and they were closing, so I had to choose fast :)

The leds aren't the same! I managed to burn the red cree, so I had to buy a luxeon clone locally, my eyemeter says its about half as bright, but you know, eyes aren't that good measuring brightness.

Here is a DivX video (900k) of the unit running.

You can adjust the speed of the sweep using that blue preset in the board.

I still need an efficient way to sweep the spectrum.

Have fun
