:wow: that's 4 of us in Cornwalley!!

...and here I've been, envious of the San Francisco lunch get-togethers. Lunch anyone? :D No, wait... dinner & then shootout?

There's at least 2 others on the coast & 2 more on the East side that haven't signed in yet.

My future sister-in-law is from Bend, OR. Does that count?

Wedding is in July. Gonna spend a week up there for festivities. Any suggestions on fishing spots, or cool things to do?

Leering from the Bard's lair here.

Bend is volcanic high desert. If you're not used to that then the parks are nice enough. There's rafting and fishing on the Deschutes river. There's some nice back country behind the moutains. It was a small town that grew up too fast IMO and I don't go there anymore, other than skiing.

Bend is pretty. Go up to Metolius - good fishing, I hear. Since you're on that side of OR, check out Crater Lake as well (no fishing, but *gorgeous*!)

Things to check out, imho:
-hike up Broken Top-killer view, great air
-The Cove Palisades, paradise in a desert
-Smith Rock, especially if you like to climb
-Maupin, rafting the John Day (and Kayaking)
-High Desert Museum (10 minutes south of Bend or so)
-Lava Tubes, 5 minutes south of Bend
-Newberry Crater National Monument, 3 minutes south of Bend (drive nearly to the top, great view)
-Lava River Cave, 12 minutes south of Bend (mile long lava tube)
-Cascade Lakes Highway is a nice drive
-Lots of places to Moutain Bike
-Rockhounding at Richardson's Thunderegg Ranch, and many other areas (Richardson is fee based but reasonable, the others are free)
-Rockhounding for Obsidian and other stuff if you want to take a drive a bit past Prineville
-And all sorts of other things...

So who wants to do a Corvallis meetup? Maybe meet for coffee at the Beanery some evening then go play at Avery Park? or somewhere open after dusk?
