In a quest to keep things interesting...I fiddled with some reclaimed 304 stainless steel. After some trial and error test cuts, I decided to make a piece in true, raw form.

The mill finish, scratches, scuffs and ink markings from the mill were left untouched...The knurl was impressed right over the mill scale, any shiny surfaces other than the grooves next to the knurl are scuffs and marks that were already present...Call me nuts...but I think it's pretty cool...:grin2:

Just imagine...a piece that will look better with age, and if you bang or drop it...good luck figuring out where the damage occured...:naughty:

This head takes the 20mm reflector, if you haven't already guessed.

It's a finished piece...just the way it is. A diamond that shall remain in the rough.

I hope you find it interesting...:)

Thanks for looking, and have a great evening.

Freddy, I hope you're doing well...:)

Nice!

A few bicycle frames have been offered in raw form with the tubing markings intact.

Thank you!

It was a very fun project...that has probably created a few more projects, now I need a 'mill finish' bezel ring, tube and switch.

Great stuff! Just be sure you don't sell any of these to those mad polishers that are on the loose!

I've wondered about the squeeze knurling before. It would seem to me that if the diameter of whatever you're knurling wasn't a perfect multiple of the knurler, then you'd just end up with a bunch of over running lines. (Did that make any sense?) There must be some way of making it work with any diameter of stock. Please enlighten.

;)

Just bang it up real good after you have cleaned it up ;)
That used antique look is really special. You will know what i am talking about
when i get my Alpehs back from the anodizer :)

And Yes i actually prefer SS over Ti for some weird reason,Ti watches have always striked me as cheap and plastic like because of the lower weight.
In a light that may be a diffrent story because of the mass/Size of a light Vs the mass of a watch.
I have not handled a Real Ti light yet and neither a SS Light so i may be
talking mumbo jumbo again.

And as always your Skills and Work always amazes me.
That tube on the SS head looks awsome :)

I can guarantee you that you will not think a Ti light is cheap and plastic like. Btw, Ti lights are heavier than Aluminium lights, I wish it was the other way around.

I have 3 Ti watches and they all feel cheap and plastic like.
And believe me they were not cheap ;)

I prefer Heavy watches in SS but sadly my wrists react to the SS.

Hey...
Are we talking about watches here...
How did that happen :aaa:

Anyway the weight of a 123 Sized SS light might be to much and Ti might be just perfect.
What do i know..
