I didn't realize it was applicable to 3W lights, both D cell and AA cell based.
I had the luxury of checking out several lites and it was very evident.
Out of about 4 4D lites, one was noticeably yellow vs. the others being brilliantly white.
Also, I have a 2AA which is clearly white while my 3AA is much more yellow. It doesn't seem to disturb its intensity or functionality, really.
