I have been asked to ship an item to Canada more than once and from the best I can tell a item that would cost about $10 to ship in the states would cost about $24 to ship to Canada??? does that seem about right? Also there would be some customs paperwork to fill out. Its not that I'm against shipping out of the country, its just that I'm just not wise to how its done.

I get stuff sent to me all the time from vendors like 4sevens.com

They usually send small parcels using USPS and it usually costs them about $2 - $3 max.

All you need is a green customs sticker with a brief description of the article being sent, e.g. 'flashlight' and a declared value which seems to be mostly the wholesale value of the article.

Sending via UPS or whatever is usually a lot more expensive and can incur brokerage charges when delivered to the destination. I try to avoid vendors who want to use this method.

YMMV.
