There are several popular shops. If you check the CPF market, they have a list of shops and the discounts given by them.
Ah, here it is:

I have personally ordered from goinggear and have been quite happy. The coupon code is 'ggcpf10' for 10% off which is one of the larger discounts and their store has a good selection.

itp has a new head-light that you might like. It uses 1xAAA and is very small and cost effective at 30 bucks.

Many people like the zebralights for handsfree operation and they would be considered the specialist at such lights.

If you have bad eyesight like me :duh2:, I use the Turbo mode on the Fenix TK40... If you have good eyesight, just use the low mode.

:wave:lovecpf yet another vote for zebralight (501w) Both going gear and zebralight.com are good to deal with. I use mine often for closeup duties and i have over 125 lights to chose from. mcgizmo sundrop also incredible but over your price limit.

Best flashlight or headlamp for close up work.... fixing cars at night etc.

I've probably logged 30 plus hours with my Zebralight while working on my car at night in a poorly lit shop (which was not intended to be used at night). It's unobtrusive and puts the light where you want it... everywhere. I think a Zebralight would work perfectly for your needs.

I wouldn't want to get deer entrails on one of my nice shiny flashlights ;) Seriously I think for the tasks you have listed your going to get better mileage from a headlamp. I have an inova 24/7 which is ok but not amazing, it is certainly what I use for camp chores etc, and if your working on cars or things like that having both hands free would be useful.

If you don't want a headlamp, I'd suggest the Fenix MC10 Anglelight. It can be clipped to a belt or shirt collar and pointed in any direction if you don't want to use a headband. It can also be used as a headlamp when clipped to a Fenix headband if you want. It has a nice diffuser that when combined with its low mode works well for illuminating close up work.

I've been using a Petzl Tikka for a couple years. Nothing high tech, nothing but flood, still have yet to change the original batteries.

Oh, and it's under $30

Another vote for the ZL H501. I use mine constantly when installing trits in other lights and really doing anything that involves fine motor skills!

From up-close to 5 feet away, the Zebralight H501 is a very capable light.

Illuminating a wide area from about 5 feet away. I use my H501 as a light source for brushing my teeth every night.
