Here's My Thoughts On Fire Foxes FF3 40watt mini-HID

I will say for its size it is very impressive and it does crank out some lumens and throws fairly well. But those folks that have compared the FF3 to 85 watt HID flashlights and said they will hold its own apparently haven't compared it to the 2 I got. But again for it's size and being only 40 watts it does put out some lumens and it has some pretty good throw as well. The quality is very nice. And you got to love the Coke can size of this light. Fits in your hand very well. And it only weighs 1lb 5oz with 4 18650 KeepPower 3400mah batteries in the light. But to make any protected batteries fit in the battery carrier you have to trim a lot of the negative spring coils to where there isn't a lot of spring left. I had to force these KeepPower cells in. But they do fit.

Looks to me like the ff3 Can hold its own? Seems to put more light out then the 85w.

I think it just puts the light in a different place than the FF3. 85 actual watts, is still double the lumen output.

Thanks guys. Yes the light output is there. I was just hoping for a little more in the throw. But for its size it is workhorse.

I will say this. I am sold on these 4300K bulbs. I can't tell you how much better the 4300K bulb in the 2 85watt flashlights throws better than the 6000K bulb. There's a huge difference.

Can see it throws its light further then the ff3, but does not look like double the output? Can one really be sure that because it says 85w it really is double the output?

I wasn't talking about the output. I was talking about the throw. Other guys have said the FF3 will out throw a 85watt HID ebay flashlight. It might do it with a 6000k bulb installed in the 85watt light, but it won't do it with a 4300K bulb installed and adjusted correctly for hotspot. I just showed you that. I have 2 85 watt HID flashlights and both have the 4300K bulb. And both will out throw the FF3 by quite a bit.

This will give some more HID photos added to the mix since guys like to see other photos as well.

The flaslight torch.com people still have a few of the Firefoxes FF2 left. Anyone know how those compare to the FF3?
