Firstly I was registered under another user name but sadly I forgot my password after a computer crash.

I have been using the custom made USL (made by our own JS in 2006) and it has performed really well. Sadly it is dimming if left for over a day after a full charge. So, is anyone still using the USL or is it no longer supported or perhaps just surpassed?

I would love to revive it but the wealded batteries are quite specialised. Is there a way to revive them apart from just charge/discharge cycles?

Now I am back in (I was 'soundbox') I hope to do better with my password than last time!

Thanks.

I have sent you details of how to reset your password for your old account to the registered email for that account.

Thanks - that's brilliant. I'll drop them a line.

Not many users then? Has it been overshadowed by new waves of modded lights?

It's been overshadowed by waves of manufacturer lights; there are plenty of LED/multi-XM-L models that can match or better those output numbers with far more runtime and far less mass and cost. LED lights are taking on compact HIDs these days..

Agreed. but.... Every now and then you just want to set fire to something with your flashlight :)

My brother picked up a $25 Rayovac "Indestructible" 2D at Wal-Mart and it's freakishly bright. Not sure about runtime but I am sure that for $25 i'm sure as heck going to pick one up for myself as an emergency light.

Almost every box store is carrying $20-30 500-lumen-and-above flashlights this holiday season; Utilitech at Lowes, Ozark Trail at Wal-Mart, Defiant at Home Depot (including a $30 1000 lumen model,) etc.

Cheapbatterypacks have said that they are able to help but how do I get the old pack out? It doesn't slide out the base and I don't want to damage the internal parts by applying pressure. Thanks for any help.

Update (may be of interest to other USL users). I have a battery pack on its way to me and the old pack was held in place by the wires going to the switch and light holder. I needed to pop the switch out and loosen the bulb holder assembly. All going well so far.

The battery pack they are supplying has a higher capacity than the original ones but still capable of kicking out the Amps.

Is the pack using those Elite 2000 cells?

That's the ones. Pack all fitted now and the USL is back in service except that the bulb lights up whiter and more intensely than it ever has before. Any other USL users out there still?
