I'm wondering how to compare my Surefires to m*glites when I talk to people. I'm wondering what the lumen (as best as we can get) output for the AA, 2D, and 4D cell lites are. ANyone know?

Hi, KDOG3.

From the maglite homepage, you could go to product page and click onto their ' lamp spec ' to check out the advertised lumens.

down the road from Pleasure Point.
AA: about 5

2-D: 15-18, about the same as the E1e

4-D: 59, so the SF E2e has 1 more than the 4-D

but remember that the SF's use AVERAGE rating as opposed to the peak rating of the mags, so a p60 on new batts can put out as much as 75-80 lumens for the first few minutes. same goes for the other SF's.

Cool. I see the Mags really don't do any better with the Xenon lamps and the beam still looks like crap...

Mags to surefires is more like toyota (cheap pretty reliable) to lambergunii (top of the line in every aspect).
