I have a few LuxIII and 5W mag mods and love them all.
Each is alittle differnet and better for sertain uses.
Generally, I like a larger hotspot, like the 5W mags have.
I have been wanting to make an altimate caving mag, from a 2C mag. (I have used many of my 2D mags caving, they performed amazingly, but are too large)
At first, I was planning to make a 2C mag Fatman 5W 2x18650 cells.
Which would be great, and probably make the beam I am after if i used a sputtered reflector.
But I need alot of runtime from this light, so I was thinking of using a LuxIII instead, but that leaves me with a much too tight beam.
What I would REALLY like to make is:
2C mag
Hotspot able to be focused at least as wide as a 5W mag, without getting a huge hole in the middle.
LuxIII (or any other as efficient and bright) - has anyone tested a cree with a mag reflector?
Dimmable (fatman, or nflex)
Run off 2x18650 cells. - Heres the kicker, I would much rather use 2 seperate cells, not a 2 cell pack.
seperate cells are much easier to carry, I cant carry a 2x18650 pack well.
This leaves protection problems, not sure how to go about that.
I need to add something to the driver I use for the protection I guess.
Any help advice etc on how to solve the wider spot, and seperate cell problems would be greatly apreciated.
