Re: Fenix's latest announcement

Don't know why the natural finish is being discontinued.
*total* speculation here, but... if they instead achieve the same anodizing quality I see in the T1, I much rather have that instead of the old "natural" finish.

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

Ok... let me jump in here to clarify some things...

1) T1 is not going to be discontinued
2) Natural is being discontinued and to be replaced by Olive Drab finishes.
3) L1T/L2T v2.0 is being discontinued due to a) lack of demand b) defect
rate of the switches is high. So they are not coming back until we source
better switches.
4) E0, E1's are being discontinued.

The T1 is NOT going to be discontinued anytime in the near future.
It's not cool that rumors are being spread like this because it's causing
widespread panic as well as it's generating tons of email that it's
jamming our system :lolsign:

The black and natural finishes were outsourced to outside companies.
Fenix has been working hard to build their own HA finishing plants. The
Olive Drab and the Red in the L0D are the first of the fruit of their labor.
Look for Olive Drab in many other models soon! Honestly, the naturals
were a bit of a problem because the outside companies would ruin lots
of parts and that increased the costs. Having an in-house plant allows
Fenix to exercise more control over the final finishing process and thus
reduce the per unit cost due to reduced scrap rates.

The L1T/L2T v2.0 and E0 and E1's are being discontinued simply because
there was not enough demand to make big runs of them. Making small runs
increases the cost dramatically. :p

I hope I got all the bases covered here...

No more NAT?:mecry:And does that mean that the E0 is discontinued *forever*? Or will there be small runs occasionally in the future?

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

Thanks 4Sevens for clearing that up.

On a sidenote, IMHO, the reason for there not being enough demand on LxT V2, is that they didn't have the latest emitters. I'll bet that they will sell big time if Fenix decides to release them with premium emitters. Seems to be a big demand for a simple two stage light with momentary on run on AA, but releasing them without a premium emitter really hurts the appeal.

Lack of demand? Really? I guess I'm in the minority then when it comes to wanting a simple yet bright flashlight. This is why I didn't want one of the "D" series lights. Way too many lighting options to click through. I just wanted low and high and that's it. I love my L1T version 2.

I know the human eye can't see the difference in brightness between a rebel 80 and a rebel 100 anyway but unfortunately the human mind doesn't think that way (You THINK you can see a difference) And this is what lead to the demize of the L1T.

I sure hope that Fenix comes out with a SIMPLE bright light that is like the L1T as a replacement. I will never buy one of these lights that has "SOS" and "Strobe"

Just give me a reliable simple BRIGHT light.

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

I noticed Fenix Store is no longer selling P3D RB100s. I wonder how many were sold? Seems to me it should be a relatively rare light since they sold them for such a short time.

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

I think my next light is going to be the T1.
I would like the T2 or T v2.0 to have an easy to use inter phase allowing strobe like the Gladius. I'm warming up to the idea of the clip and also having 2 levels of light.

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

Do you have any of the E1 versions in stock at all? I was curious if you were going to add whatever you have left in the clearance section or maybe the discontinued section of your site. I saw nothing there when I last checked and wondered if you had already sold all of the E1s

I was about to send an order for a few E1s days before I read of their being no longer offered.

I just checked with Lighthound and they have the E1 in both the black and natural, but I'm not buying. If I have learned anything, it's that there will be something a whole lot better just around the corner and cheaper too.

I've got a EO on my key chain and I'm very happy with it, but I was hoping the Fenix would put a new updated LED on it, but that's not going to happen, because it is all about money.

If you have not noticed, every time there is a slight LED improvement that cost the manufacturers pennies, they have been tacking on 10 times or more to their sales prices. It has gotten out of hand, so I will just sit back and wait.

Should i set them aside ?

BTW, i hope that the new "updated" E0 gets the Nichia DS LED.

If ever.

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

I just got my L1T V2.0 three weeks ago and love it. I'm glad I ordered before they got discontinued.

I like the simplicity and practicality (edc, AA battery, etc.) of the L1T V2.0. I'm assuming others got them for the same reasons. Other than having a brighter emitter, there's not much more you can do to upgrade the light and changing the simple interface might make them even less demanding IMO.

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

T1's are going to be red now?!?!

:lolsign: Just kidding!

Actually, I think that would be a great idea. A red T1 along with a red L0D in a nice presentation case. Perfect for the girlfriend or wife, or collectors.

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

Sorry about the confusion!
i guess the way i read it just said to me that T1 "natrual" finishes, which are actually olive drab, were going to be discontinued, and replaced with a different T1

I did not however say that the T1 would be discontinued, yaesumofo said that,i just said whoever wants the ORIGINAL T1, with what i thought was natrual finish, better buy it now. Im wrong, but not THAT wrong... i do understand that he probably mis-understood what i meant in my post..

I also assumed that because fenix-store seems to be the international distributor, that its the "official" store, and any statement from there is valid.
sorry for the email jamming 4sevens..

The rebel models are not being made right now as far as I know because lumileds cannot produce anymore rebels in that high of a flux. The first batch was small and sort of a factory freak. The cree is available in qty so they are still using them.

Re: Fenix's latest announcement

I'm sure Wade could answer here, probably others, but from what I've heard the Olive and Natural tints were very close.. Not like one is deep green or anything. So really not a big change.

Just glad Fenix isn't going to all-black like someone suggested earlier, their black HA isn't very good. But my Natural P2D looks great after 3 months!
