I have recently modded my 2d maglite to a 3x123, and now I'm looking into alternative methods to supply 9 volts. Mainly because 123s are extremely expensive where I live and I don't want the hassle of ordering them off the internet all the time. Just now I thought of something. Would running 3x9volt batteries in parallel work well? It seems as though they would fit with relative ease. Help greatly appreciated, thank you!

They can't supply much current and have very little capacity.

Use a pair of 3AA/1D adapters, they're $1.50 each (here: http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=2723) and don't require any modding. Using NiMH cells, you get less voltage but more current than 123s, plus you can always use Energizer Lithiums for the best of both worlds.
