I found an X990 but it's made by someone names ACRO... Don't much about them... Wasn't the X990 made by another company originally... Mc-Something or other. Like McGregor or something? Is the ACRO any different? Any worse? Any Better?

I'm not married to the idea of an X990 either. I'm looking for a really powerful light that isn't HUGE (X990 size as opposed to the 10" types), that can really throw, Maybe HID and costs under say $600.00. And is rechargable. More like a large flash Now I know that exludes some of the big boys which is fine but I know there has to be some killer spots out there in this range... Help me out guys. Thanks.

That is the same light(made by same company). I have the "Arco" branded version as well, it rocks

 Exquisellent... Then I must have it.

Thank you.

You may wish to check out SUVLights.Com. Last time I heard was that they sold these for $300.00 with two (2) rechargeable batteries. The price may have gone up a little.

Enjoy!

See this link. I started that thread a couple of months ago, but I suspect its still good. Its $320 with 2 batteries, case, strap, plus $15 shipping; or $285 with one battery, etc. plus shipping.

This is one awesome light, btw.

cheers

Booooooooooo! I don't think they're doing it anymore...

Thank you for the link though... That would have been a sweet deal.

Did you ask them? This is an unadvertised thingy. Zap them an email and see.

cheers

I did... and They are... I am trying to round up the cash as we speak... I feel like a kid getting excited about Christmas... This will be my first high end light (High end by my standards). Until now it's been Mag-lites and Inovas and one crappy Wal_mart 2 million CP $30.00 job.... I want something with some Umph!

Thank you very much for the tip.

I've seen some of the Bay Area fellow CPFers with their AcroX990 HIDs and they really like it. Sure would like to know your take (review) on it when you have it in your hands.

Enjoy!

By all means, go for the X990 at that price. I paid more two years ago, for the exact same unit. It has worked flawlessly for my needs, and my wife, the realtor, impressed a client by showing off a house at night both outside and into the unlighted basement and way off into the back yard by pulling this 6 lb. unit from her backseat.

BTW, it was originally sold by McCullough, then ACRO took over, and that is whose brand I have.

In reality, this is all you will need. More is mainly for kicks, although LiIon batteries would be a practical improvement for runtime. Otherwise, this is a great bargain at the price you have in front of you.

Enjoy,

HAK.
