About 5am this morning I was was awoken to a very loud BANG!
...........
Here is what happened:

I have a G-2 Surefire powdered by 3v lith batteries. I replaced the batts about a month ago, all worked fine. I keep it on the nightstand bezel pointed down. Well one of the batteries went off somehow, and here is the results.

Command Batteries. Pretty Crappy how the battery MFG didn't care at all.

China-manufactured batteries.:shakehead I've never heard of that brand before: "Command" ???

At least they cited CPF a number of times, with linkage.

Edit: Etc, it looks like you posted there? Enlighten the masses! :)

This is very interesting...

It appears that the light had been sitting on the table for an extended period of time before the battery blew. I wonder if it was left on... I am having a hard time figuring out why a battery would blow just sitting there.

At any rate, I am going to move this thread over to the battery safety section and we can carry on there.

I wonder if a parasitic drain situation may have triggered this event.

Some folks here have reported their G2 had drained their cells while it was not being used.

Ah nice, some more PRC primaries. Many unsuspecting learn the hard way. Too bad that's the case but as least no one was hurt.

Yeah, a little ceiling spackle, snip and glue in some transplanted carpet fibers, and you're good to take "Command" of the situation all over again.
