February's release from Lumileds stated that :-

"The breakthrough, by the company's engineers and scientists,
enables efficacy to remain nearly constant even as drive current increases. The new technology
will be implemented in 2007 in the company's LUXEON
® LEDs which already deliver leading
light output at drive currents of 1000mA and higher. Sampling of products is expected to begin
in the next 90 days with full production in Q3 of 2007."

Seeing as we are almost in Q4 (in 4 days) I thought we may have had a sniff about this by now - is this why there has been no press releases from Lumileds this month?
Has anyone had some samples with this anti-droop tech yet?

Cheers

It's looking more and more like the 100 lumen Rebels are the big Q3 release, which is a disappointment.

Lumileds would probably like to claim that the rebel has "Anti-Droop" technology, but based on my testing, they do not scale any better at high current than any other power LED does, or even any better than the current K2. So it sounds like "anti-droop" is just marketing speak for "higher brightness".

Then again, there are still 4 days in Q3, maybe there will be a bit of a surprise, but it's not looking too promising.
