any LED can beat Malkoff M60?

The Tiablo A9 with smooth reflector is brighter and throws better than MN60, I have both. But the spill and hotspot of MN60 is much better indoors.
 
it really depends on what you mean by "beat" plenty of lights would beat in in throw i think...specialised thowers i mean..

Besides "brightness" we may be talking about over all light output. The T1 may be close to "beating" the M60 if what I read on CPF is true. Chevrofreak shows a high output for the T1 and others are thinking the M60 is about 220 lumens, or so. The M60 optic apparently is putting forward most of the available lumens that a Q5 can muster.

As far as LUX and one meter, and throw, the M60 is about the same as the TK10, Dereelight with a textured reflector etc. My Dereelight CL1H with a smooth reflector is giving me 10,000LUX at one mere, my Dereelight DBS V2 is around 28,500LUX at one meter.

The M60 may have the most total output of my LED lights though. In my light box it scored the highest, but it has a lot of spill, and bright spill, so it is possible that skewed the test, but others have reported similar findings.

The optic the M60 uses is pretty awesome. :)
 
If you are talking output wise and also count mods, then yes. A few(very few) have multi Rebel drop-ins in their light. The Dereelight drop-ins with the smooth reflector could out throw the Malkoff drop-in.
 
Beat in terms of what? Throw? There's are alot of LED throwers out there that can easily beat the Malkoff M60, that goes for brightness as well. But, for over all performance Malkoff is still on top of the pedestal.
 
It hard to beat the Malkoff in output can be partially due to the output. The optic in much more efficient then most reflector/window combo, so for the same LED output, you get more torch lumen.

So yes, Malkoff is at the top when considering non modded drop-ins.
 
For my use (walking on a dark country road), nothing compares to the M60. Lots of throw, lots of spill.

When the SSC P7 becomes more commonly available, Gene & others will certainly try that. In a small bodied light (6P or similar), thermal management will a limiting factor.
 
I'm more than satisfied with mine. This is the best beam pattern that I had ever seen in an LED light. I just wish gene would come up with a 2 stage ( low and high) drop in.
 
yeah i've been wondering why there arent any P60 droppins using one of the many different beam angle cree optics apart from malkoffs. Most of the optic lenses themselves are smaller than the reflectors used for the pills arent they? oh and are the new Surefire E1b/L1/E1L etc. beam patterns the same as malkoff M60? and its nice to see that they have smooth and round hotspots instead of the ringy squarish beams with no spill or rings as spill that the old optics used to have.

in terms of overall output, i believe Tiablo maybe be up there. They rate something like 256lumens, ie: the are driving the emitter at around 1A. So there should be more light overall coming out from a Tiablo A9 if i am not wrong.

Some things can touch the M60 for specific purposes, such as subject illumination over a distance. The BOG Q5 out threw the M60. Got rid of the M60. The 1S Q5 out threw the BOG Q5. Got rid of the BOG Q5. The 1S R2 is at least the equal of the 1S Q5. So in terms of outright throw, the M60 gets bested by at least four different modules.
