NiteCore SR3 beam shots comparison

This beamshot was done to compare the NiteCore SR3 to some other CR123 lights, and somehow I wound up with a rather big pile of lights to compare with.

DSC_5953.jpg

The lights are: NeoFab Spartanian II, Dereelight C2H, SureFire L1, SureFire Backup, NiteCore SR3, ITP C9, 4Sevens Quark 123, NiteCore EX10, Ra Clicky, Fenix P2D, LiteFlux LF3XT, Fenix TK11

BrightnessMax.png

The first graph shows the maximum amount of light the different lights can put out. S2, C2H and SR3 are the brightest single CR123 lights.

Brightness.png

Combining all* the levels in one graph shows how evenly spaces the levels are and how wide brightness coverage the light has.
*Except for S2 (low, #4, #7, #10, high) and SR3 (low, #3, #5, #6, high).

Here are all brightess levels for S2 and SR2.

BrightnessThrow.png

Measuring lux at 4 meter, gives an idea about how far the lights will throw the light, and as can be seen, some lights are designed more for throw than others.

This light can not run at max. for more than 10 seconds, then it will reduce the brightness. Pictures and measurements are with the reduced brightness.

This is the old version of TK11, i.e. not the R2 version. It is running on a 18650 battery.

This is a quad die led light running on two 18650 LiIon batteries. It has about 3 times the light output of SR3.

All single cell lights was on CR123 batteries, except Spartanian II and C2H that was using LiIon

I don't remember having to scroll so much just to get to the 2nd post.
 for the hard work HKJ.

Thanks for the hard work man!

Another nail in my 'gotta get a Quark coffin'!!!

I realize now why EX10 and Liteflux are not for me. The UI is too cumbersome.

Quark has the WONDERFUL Fenix UI!!!

man that is one creepy field you do you beamshots at.

Good thing HKJ has a lot of lights on him when he ventures into those fields. ;)

Seriously, I appreciate the detailed beamshots - something I don't typically get around to doing myself. Nice to see them all done at the same time under the same conditions. A valuable resource!

Wow, that's a lot of light coming out of that SR3...now just need to wait for the runtime graphs...

what a mega review, thanks for taking all these great beamshots

I don't think the shots have consistent aperture and shutter settings because the brightness of the sky varies quite a bit among the shots. Because of the brightness variance, the shots with the darker skies likely have much brighter lights.

I think you will find that it was getting later/darker as he progressed through the large list of lights!

Might I suggest that you check the exif info in the pictures: 10 sec, f/5.6, ISO200

Exactly.
