I am looking to spend less than $200 on a nice flash light. I have read so many reviews on this site that i am still a little confused. I have a large supply of Battery Station CR123A so i want to use those batteries. I was really interested in the Thrunite Catapult but it wont run right unless 18650s are used.

Can you guys recommend a 700+lumens max output flash light that uses CR123A safely with a good run time on the max lumens. I was also looking at the Eagletac M2xc4 but thought 1.2hrs of max run time was pretty low for four CR123As. I was wondering if there is anything else that maybe better. Thanks for all inputs.

^^^ Thanks. Any other recommendations? We have over a 100 views with one response :)

If you can hold out until after the 20th of this month I will tell you then. :D

I sure can. No rush. I can just use my surefire 6p with Malkoff M60 in the mean while. What is happening on the 20th? :)

i'm sorry i'm new here i can only think of the Tk30 from fenix, the M1X from jetbeam, there is also the Ollight M30 Triton. and a MCE from Tiablo but I cant say anything of them because I don't own any of them.

Good luck.

You won't see a 700+ lummen light in anything under an M6 anytime soon. The max you can safely get out of a 1xCR123 is around 250l, 500 with 2xCR123/18650. All three of those would have around 1h runtime, a little less for the 2xCR123.

Also, the specs on the lights mean nothing. Find the amp draw and LED for a reasonably accurate estimation of lummens 2.5A, roughly the limit for heat dissipation in a small host, will give around 450 lummns. A single CR123 can't put out much more then 1.3a safely.

It doesnt have to be limited to only 2xCR123s. I have no problem using 4xCR123 as long as i dont have to mess with recharging batteries, etc. I have over 200 Battery Station and Surefire CR123s and really no need anytime soon to use 18650s.

At your 700 lumens requirement and $200 price point, there are not many lights to fit the bill. Probably less than a dozen. The Malkoff MD3 and the Malkoff M60 MC-E is going to be the light to get. The LED module is fully potted, and is extremely overbuilt.

+1 for the Malkoff MD3/M60 MC-E

A light that I have waited for a long time should be released on this date.

What about the M1X or the Eagletac M2XC4? They seem to fit the bill???

Those are good lights if you want a production light as well as the Olight M30. You just got to pick one and go with it. I like the size of the M30 over the M2XC4 but have never owned a M1X. The M30 does well on 4xcr123 but don't use 3x123, you will get only about 15 minutes regulated time then dropping 4x123 regulates well for like 1.5hr.

FWIW I really like my M2XC4 in cool white. Extremely bright, with amazing throw. With that being said, the light isn't all throw, it does have decent side spill as well. It also comes with a diffuser lens to turn the light into 100% flood. My M2XC4 out-throws my DBS R2, while lighting up almost everything in it's path. A VERY impressive light.
