I've got a Solarforce 3p body, but the tailcap threads are too short to use with stock twisties.

Are there mods? Should I just go straight to third-party tailcaps?

:caution: There will be current. Lots of current. :D

Hi Chrontius,
The newer 2009 Solarforce L2M ('3P') should be compatible with Surefire's 6P tailcap.
I recently ordered one from eBay, and asked the seller if it works with 6P tailcap. They said yes :)
I also have an older L2M which doesn't work with 6P tailcap - most annoying!

Can you just grind short a stock Z41? I think I recall bigchelis doing this on some of his builds.

How much current are you trying to draw?... That might shorten your list right off the bat, and make things easier by default.

How short are the threads? If they are really short you can use a Surefire A21 adapter. The female end fits U2/K2/LU60 adapters. He male end fits Surefire tailcaps

If the threads on the SF Z41 cannot screw all the way down onto the body, is there a shoulder on the body between the tailcap threads and the o-ring on the body? If this shoulder is what is causing the interference, I would grind or turn down this shoulder, permitting the tailcap threads to screw down further toward the o-ring. Just a guess on my part, as I'm looking at my 2009 L2m and hypothesizing where the issue would be on the older bodies.

Unfortunately, I have no machine tools to make modifications. I'm leaning toward adding it to a Solarforce made mount and using it as a weaponlight.

Current? About four, five amps - a P7 under direct drive.
