Best of the Best LED

Im looking for the best LED drop in for a D 3cell maglite. Seem like i could buy one premade from someone on here cheaper than i could attempt my first build.
But i wanted to know if i also need to replace the lens with these kits. if so thats ok but i just need to know.
One more thing lol. do the battery upgrades really help that much or just a little.

Make a search for Malkoff, they are supposed to be the best!

I don't have one, I have a simple one from Led4more, that was probably double to triple brightness of the old stock one (they have a new one new, which is better). Mine has a Q5 with about 200 Lumen, will probably drop to 170 Lumen if the light gets hot. You just replace the dropin, that's all.

Malkoff has complete kits with heat sinking, even a P7 now if you want it that bright and expensive. I replaced all my lenses with the stock glass one from Maglite, the plastic is real crap, scratchs up immediately. You get different 3rd party lenses as well. For the Malkoff, you can use your stock reflector and cut it or get a pre-cut with the kit.
