I know this is not a big deal but these last PD's didn't come with the leash holes that use to have the McLuxIII PD or the XR19 PD are they gone forever for future releases?
Other than that i have to say that the last wave of PDs are very nice, threads are better than the XR19 PD's to me at least they are as smooth as their aluminum brothers. Besides i could not find the usual machine marks on the lights.
Hopefully the next waves are as good if not better than the current ones they are truly artwork.

The lanyard holes have been removed from the design. I think there is reasonable lanyard attachment without them and the light is cleaner without them and less work for the machine shop. The machine shop is getting the process down in terms of feeds and speeds and cutting tool geometry. They have also gone back to 6-4 Ti because they think they can get a better cut and surface finish with the alloy. I read here on CPF from time to time where machining Ti is painted as trivial. I have not found that to be the case and the shop I use has tried and broken a number of tools in getting the process on these lights dialed in. Perfection will never be claimed on these lights but that is not to say that both the shop and myself aren't striving to improve on the ultimate build of the lights.

I concure, as I stated in the buy thread, that the new wave of Ti PD's are the best yet. I loved the the last wave with their lanyardless holes, way cleaner and not needed in my opinion, but the finish on this latest wave is the best since the III-T. And most of all, I love the beefy new bezel around the piston compared to the more chamfered one on the last few waves.
I am actully surprised more people have not commented on these changes, but that might be that mostly new comers bought up this latest wave.

I agree about the small changes, the little things. For me, it is the butt, too :D
I prefer the newer variant of the piston.

I was thinking about removing the clip and using the screw holes for a lanyard. If you want to use a lanyard, do you need both?

John,

Is that picture from the new run?
Mine is def. different. Has a whole lot less chamfer.
I will try to get a shot off once I get the boy to bed.

It's a Ti PD-S AlTiN from the new run... although maybe those were different (original) piston designs??

Must be.

When I get my picture up later, everyone will def. see that there is a significant difference.
It is way more squared off. I knew right when I saw it that something was dif. but I could not confirm till I got home.

New on the left and series 2 on the right. I sold my series I.
Green Ferry in the back.

Not SUPPOSED to like anthing in particular, just stating that there are variances in the generations. Yours looks like one of the older more chamfered ones.

Just some fun small changes is all.
Enjoy your fantastic light Dave!
