Budget M4 or ROP LL

I built a ROP Lo a while back and while it was very impressive, I didn't have the metal reflector and was concerned about melting the plastic one. I decided to try the bulbs for a Pelican Big D alkaline version, #3804. It has two 8W bulbs, so it comes with a spare! It is very bright and works fine with the plastic reflector. I run it on 2x18500 in a 2C Maglite. The only thing I changed was the plastic lens to a UCL from Lighthound. This setup makes it very cheap to get into the ROP game with no worries about melting stuff. Plus the runtime is better since it only runs 1.1A. Complete ROP LL for less than $40 total.

That sounds like a good low output bulb. To go even cheaper, you could use a stock 2C mag and 3xCR123A. I'd also be interested in beamshots.
