Just wondering if anyone can advise me on which one to choose. Wont be used as a weapon light but will take out shooting at night (rabbits). Does M2 take all the drop ins the same as C2. Is M2 worth the extra few quid if not beeing used as a weapon light. Just looking for something versatile and tough.
Cheers Andy

Yes both lights have the same body, you will find an extra o-ring on the M2 body however the C2 body has the extra groove to accomodate the extra oring if you chose so.
The C2 bezel is a smaller diamer than the M2, the M2 has some shock proof system that makes the head wider. I find it easier to carry the C2 than the M2 due to having a slimmer bezel. If you are not looking for a weapon light then the C2 is a better choice, it wouldn't make a big difference if you were going to put a LED drop in as LED's are very shockproof.

I own a Surefire C2. Very nice light. If I wanted a tough-as-nails inca, I'd go with the M2 because of the shock isolation bezel. If I wanted something that could take an LED drop-in as well as an inca drop-in, I'd go with the C2. Surefire M-series and LEDs are not a good combo. The problem is heat build-up in the M-series heads. Not an issue for inca bulbs, but can be a problem for LEDs. If you only plan on using inca drop-ins in your light, go with the M2. Go with the C2 if you might want to try out LED drop-ins down the road.

Thanks for the fast response fella's. I did fancy the versality of being able to use incan. and LED drop ins. So looks like the C2 will be mine at the end of the month :twothumbs.
One more question if I may, and forgive me if its a dumbass one. With the turbo head for the C2, could you use an LED drop in or is it incan only.
Cheers Andy

If you can find a LED tower module in the B/S/T yeah the turbo head can use a LED module . A couple of members here have made led tower modules for the SF turbo heads. One of my EDC lights is a SF HA III C2 wisth a Seoul drop-in module.

andyross,

You cannot use the standard P60L LED module in the M2 bezel.

If you're not using the light in conjunction with a pistol, you may as well just get a 6P, since it's much cheaper. However, if you happen to prefer the different feel of the C2, then go for it. :)

I think you can use the P60L in the M2 bezel but it may go into heat regulation quicker and throttle down the brightness, just like it does in the G2L and G3L. I've never actually tried it but I can tonight when I get home. Well, I'll check and report back. The Surefire website says it will fit any light that uses the P60, P61, P90 and P91 lamp modules.

The C2 is nice because of the clip and HAIII, if you are looking for that. It also has a different feel due to the flat sides vs. the 6P which is basically round with two small flats for the name and model. I prefer the feel of the 6P over the C2 but others may feel the opposite. The M2 definitely looks cool but will be harder to EDC due to the size of the head. It also costs more than the other two.

Just get all three!

Wish I could afford all three. I will have to save up and by the time have saved some money some other bright and shiney has my attention :D.
Will get the C2 as looks prettier than 6P in my humble opinion and then start looking again.
Cheers Andy

save up and get the C2 over a 6P. the C2 is one of the best looking lights ever...:D

Agreed - I love my C2!!

However, when I was getting ready to buy one, I liked the look of the M2 even better. The one thing that I haven't seen mentioned here is the one factor that caused me to get the C2 instead. As it was pointed out to me, the M2 reflector is set further back in the head of the light which causes you to lose some of the spill compared to the C2. I was more important to me to get the additional spill/output of the C2 than the shock isolation features of the M2. I just hate the thought of wasted light...

same, but also, i like the body of the M2, all the extra white text, and the "Millenium Series"

sounds so cool....

OK, its settled. Just get the C2 and the M2. But seriously, the M2 head does cut down on the spill a little but in normal use its not really noticeable. I have compared them side-by-side though and it does look significant when white-wall hunting. I've been using my C3 with the M2 head for a while now and haven't missed the spill in "normal" use. I'm using it with the P91. If I switch to an LED in that light I'll probably also switch the head since the shock-isolation wouldn't really be needed and for better heat transfer.

by the way, if cfromc is the same cfromc as in the MP, i have him to thank for my Malkoff +C2 combination..:)

Either and/or said SF lights are fine, I have both but prefer the SF.M2 more so than the SF.C2. Then again, Your Methods May Vary accordingly so. . . :)

Enjoy!

Andy, another option would be to buy the C2 flashlight + an M2 bezel for less money than just buying the M2 flashlight. Check with Calvin at Brightflashlights.com. That way you have the versatility of both lights. The C2/M2 bezels work great with the Malkoff, Dereelight and BOG led modules.
Cheers, Frank

With Surefire pricing, he wouldn't be saving much money by buying one light, and then getting a spare head for it. After buying a KL5 head, I realized I could get an L5 for not much more. I returned the head, and bought an L5. Perhaps Surefire does it on purpose. Price the heads so close to the actual lights, that most folks decide to spend a bit extra, and just get the entire light instead.
