Since I just took the pictures for chronos´ rare lights thread I decided to put them up here as well.

It´s an chrome plated Orb Raw NS I came across on the Marketplace. The plating was done by Modamag. The other one´s head was machined by a messerforum.net member from whom I bought this light.

Love the machining on the Orb head, gives it a very nice elegant touch. Cant go wrong with chrome on the NS, no more polishing.

How durable is the Chrome plating? I'd be afraid to use that NS. One thing I hate about Nickel Silver is that one, I hate the "smell" of that metal alloy, and my skin is pretty sensitive to it. Hence my love of Titanium.

If I remember correctly, there are two main types of chroming. The cheap way is to apply the chroming straight to the metal to be protected. On steel, this often results in the chrome flaking off as water gets into the tiny perforations of the protective layer. The proper way to do it is to electroplate a layer of copper, then nickel, then chrome (I might have mixed up the copper/nickel order).

However, the Raw NS is itself made of Nickel-Silver, which is actually an alloy of copper and nickel mainly. This means that the chrome should take to it extremely well, and thus the chrome plating on this light should be very durable.

 Eric. Really nice. Love the lines on the Alu Raw.
Inspires me to try some Wee Ns with Chrome :twothumbs

Rob if you have the means of chrome plating some of those NS, they would sell like hotcakes. And yes unless you polish them all the time, they get kinda smelly.
