Re: A2 $urefire Strion Socket

I received the kit earlier this week and LOVE IT!!!
I use my A2 so much I feel bad for not paying attention to my other lights!!
Also, you can fit about 2-3 Strion bulbs in a SC3 spares carrier as opposed to 1 SF replacement!

I went for a walk tonight and the A2 was in my hand 90% of the time! This is the COOLEST upgrade for the A2!!!

My Dad gets a discount on Streamlight products, so I think I'm gonna have to buy a bunch of Strion bulbs at his price and have them for back-up as I see using this light A TON!!!

IF YOU OWN AN A2...YOU MUST BUY THIS KIT!!! IT IS #1!!!!

THANKS AGAIN!!! I LOVE IT!!!

DaFABRICATA: I was thinking the same thing. How did you put the Strion bulbs into your SC3? Did you pad them or protect them in some way?

Best Regards:
Bob

Strion bulbs around me all cost $8 to $12 each.

Any place you know of on-line that is more competitive?

Absolutely amazing upgrade. Looks very close in brightness to the LF EO-E2R. Very impressive build and results.

Got the UPgrade today!
I made an excellent choice when I decided to go with this custom part.
Thank you fivemega, I hope to buy more of your products in the future.

Got mine 10 minutes ago and love it already.

Quick lightmeter test data:

1. Throw (lux at 1 meter):
Stock bulb: 2250 lux
Strion bulb: 4200 lux (86% increase)

2. Overall output (lux readings in ceiling bounce test):
Stock bulb: 11.5
Strion bulb: 15.8 (37% increase).

Great mod. Thank you FM. :twothumbs

Didn't get my A2 until this tread was closed, but if you do another run I would like one. =)

Re: (CLOSED) A2 $surefire Strion Socket

These mirror my results pretty closely.
My A2 is an underperformer so I was able to get a little higher level of % increase mine was close to 100% brighter.
There is no doubt that this mod produces substantially more light out the front of the light. It is a good improvement.
I do not believe there is any loss in runtime either ( I could be wrong about this) But since this is a regulated circuit wouldn't the runtime be the same?
I really am just guessing here.
I feel sorry for all of you A2 owners who missed out on this.
I wouldn't wait next time of FiveMega does a second run.
I am sure he has a minimum run to do these and I would be scared if I were him because if he did another run of 90 and was only able to sell 40 he wold maybe loose the profit on both runs.
I suppose he could sell the balance to Lighthouse and watch them sell slowly..

The sale of 90n of these really is s testament to the popularity of the A2 around here. Clearly it is one of the most popular Incandescent flashlights on the CPF. It is almost like required reading.who Funny how some people don't get it too. For example Groundhog who searched High and Low for an A2 to have it modded and strioned only to sell it off. I would have bought that light from him except for the fact that I am not buying lights at this moment. Saving for a E1B.

The A2 is a great light. the addition of this accessory propels it to a whole other level.
Congratulations to fiveMega on a successful completion of sale and on making a good quality product which enhances one of the best flashlights out here. Amazing on what a Cpf'er can do if properly motivated.

I'm getting an informal run-time of about 42-44 minutes out of the Strion modded A2. Roughly 15 minutes less. I'm fine with that as the additional 75%-100% output from the A2 was a VERY welcome change.

Re: (CLOSED) A2 $surefire Strion Socket

The thread for the previous (2006) run of these kits was still generating enquiries, so it has now been closed.

This thread will remain open for members to register their interest in a possible future (3rd) run.
