Hello together,

i need help! I can´t decide between this two candles:candle: ...:mecry:

What would be your choice?

I need a good thrower and much overall-output.

Best regards

i heard from problems with the colour of the beam?

why is the dereelight much better than the tiablo?

I can´t get a real result from the reviews...both are good throwers....

Hi Kalle,

In real world usage, the lights are going to be about the same. The DBS does out throw the A9, but from the multitude of reviews I've seen, not by much. Now, the place where the DBS kills all other lights is the ability to upgrade with a simple pill / light engine purchase. For $30 some odd USD, you can have the latest, greatest driver and LED.

For me, it's the DBS all the way.

ah ok. not only the driver is included in these 30$-updates but also the led... that´s really a great thing!

if in 3 years there´s a 15w 2500 lumen led update for the dbs, you can put this in your old dirty 2008er Dereelight DBS and go for a light-hunt!

that sounds really interesting!

how good is the dereelight waterproof?

by the way-> what do you think comparing your dbs with your spear?

The DBS is well-known to be the "KING" of the throwers. And, as Clint mentioned, it is a modular light - you can choose between smooth/orange peel reflectors, run it as a single stage, three-stage, add an extension tube, and when a new, more efficient and brighter emitter comes out, you can buy just that (termed a "pill") and install it into the head of your DBS, making it a "new" light. They just came out with an MC-E pill for the DBS which will make the King Thrower a massive output light (wider beam) of in the neighborhood of 500 lumens! Lots of choices and options. Can't see why you wouldn't want one!!

Regards:twothumbs

ok, ok! ....i want one!

...but a Wolf-Eyes P7 would be also nice...

I recently traded my Spear. It is a great light but the DBS out-throws it. That said, the quality of the Spear is impeccable - the fit and finish is unparalleled in my opinion.

You listed 2 throwers so I assumed you wanted throw.
I reccomended the one with the best throw.

"hands down dbs" means "go with the dbs"?
i thought it means "in my opinion don´t take the dbs"...;)

"hands down" means in german "hände runter" or for the meaning "don´t take" :)

OH I get you, a language barrier. Sorry! DO get the DBS.

I should of paid more attention to your nationality. If I did I wouldn't of put it in my regular speech pattern.

I'm not a Tiablo expert, but doesn't the DBS offer the best regulation with 18650's, and the most output with 18650's?

I have the Spear and DBS and I prefer the feel of the DBS, the pocket clip, etc. I find the Spear uncomfortable to use with the large mushroomed tailcap.

In my collection of throwers (DBS, A9, Spear, MRV) I prefer the DBS, it has good throw, a good UI (user interface) and can be upgraded.
But I have not used the upgrade feature (Except I have played with both OP and SMO reflector), I bought a second DBS with the MC-E.

as LEDs get more exspensive i dont know if that $30 update will remain true, the last go around was $57 and u had to buy an extension tube.

but i own the dbs 3sd r2, it is a fantastic light with tons of throw, and great build quality, and a nice cool wc tint. i really like it.

i have a feeling though that the new tiablo a10 or ace may be able to knock it out of the king's seat for throw.

but then again, theres new lights out every other week, and thats why im always broke. lol.

Ok I can help a little here I have owned all the throwers mentioned here, and the one I still have after 2 years is the DBS, so the DBS gets my vote:twothumbs

Yes that´s it! It´s the same as with the computers. you buy one and a half year later it´s only an old box of electronics!...

Ok nearly all of you prefered the DBS, that´s extraordinary!

I´m really a little unsure if i shouldn´t wait for the A10 ACE....

On the other hand the A10 ACE will be bigger than the A9 and the DBS...
...and i don´t want a too big flashlight, should fit into the jacket-pocket...

What do you think? Wait for the A10 or A10 ACE or go with the DBS?
