I've searched and searched but can't find the answer to my question.

Has anyone replaced the 4x L1154 button cells in the Streamlight Key-Mate with 2x DL1/3Ns?

Did it hurt, help or make no difference?

Now the reason I ask; I keep the Key-Mate in my desk at work in case of a blackout. So I would like to have the longest "shelf-life" from the batteries as possible. That is why I'm looking at the lithium cells over the alkaline cells.

thanks

I replaced the four L1154 Alkaline batteries(1.5 volts each) that came with the light with two DL1/3 (3 volts each) lithium batteries. No apparent overdrive of the LED. Hopefully it will have more shelf life than the Alkaline L1154 that came with it. Voltage is the same. I don't know about milliamp-hours though, i.e. capacity.

Yes I know that L1154 can be had for $0.25(US) each where DL1/3N go for $3.00. The extra $5.00 will be worth it if in 3 years I reach in the drawer and the little light still works.

Thought someone else might want to know someday.

I just recently picked up a few key-mates. Thanks for the tip, I think I will keep one with two of those in the tube! I'm also trying to get a battery like an "N" to fit somehow. I am really enjoying these key-mates!
