Just moving this from the MR-X thread into it's own thread since it's really not an original MR-X

I've always wanted a MR-X but I could never get a hold of one. So I just built my own. The only X-bin light I've ever owned! Close enough & good enough for me!

Hotlips & Magic Resistor @ 22.5mv / 1.5A as used in the original MR-X
LuxV X4T
Shortened MagD
Silver Legacy 4x123 battery holder from Mini HID Mag
Otokoyama PMR w/ very light orange peel.

I didn't install the DD indicator yet cause I'm not sure if I will keep it in this host.

I don't remember from who but I bought it years ago on BST. I even have the thermal strip that originally goes the MR-X.

The X bin I got from a known modder here. He asked that I don't reveal his name but that was years ago so I really don't think it would matter now. I'll still keep my word so all I will say is that it came from Japan. :grin2:

A little late on this light, I've had all the parts for a long time, just never put this together since I left CPF for a while. Now I see the light again. :candle:

You should really use 2 X 17670 LiIons (AW) in that holder for the best performance. I have a cut-down MRX also, but load my silverlegacy holder with said LiIons.

Thanks Chris, will do. I only very recently started using Li-Ions. So with your regulated battery holder, I can run just two 17670s in my Silver Legacy Mini-HID?

Also, what is the max Iout your MR driver can put out?

With his regulated holder he does not recommend using CR123's as when the battery's start to become depleted it will draw more current than he's comfortable with. This is what he told me sometime ago if I remember correctly.

Thanks Mac, good to know. The regulated battery holder will be used with my SL Mini-Hid Mag. My question was is if it will run on 2x 17670 or must I run 3x 16340s & a dummy?
