My E1E bezel lens is broken, i want to change it but don't know how to open the bezel!

Need help!!

I wouldn't recommend trying to unscrew it, unless you are into that sort of thing. I had one that came off easy, but another one (I suspect more typical) that required extensive work with a vice, grip wrenches, and some glue.

So...how did it break?

I understand the principle behind what SureFire will and won't 'repair or replace' is based on some parts of the products having a life-span that means they are designed to wear out through use - these are consumable components.

Tape Pressure Switches (and TailCap rubber switch boots) are specifically designed and intended to afford grip for more effective operation (just like vehicle tyres) and so will wear through with use.

Incandescent bulbs also have a life-span of typically 25 hours (rated) but in reality it is normal for bulbs to continue operating without deposits building up for 30-40+ hours.

Batteries are by their very nature the most obvious consumable part of a flashlight.

Over the years SureFire have demonstrated that they understand there are times when these consumable components wear out / fail far more quickly than anticipated. In communicating with SureFire it is usually possible to discern whether this is due to a defect or other eventuality that SureFire consider reason enough to repair/replace the component.

In the case of the broken E1e window it is likely that unless it was deliberately or intentionally negligently broken, SureFire will replace it (which means they'll replace the whole bezel)

I understand that it may not be very easy / cost-effective to call SureFire from outside the USA.
You may want to check whether SureFire has an agreement with the Distributer in the international country or region to handle repairs/replacements. The contacts can be found on SureFire.com I believe.

Ok thanks, in fact i don't know how i break it .
If i need to send it back to Surefire, shipping fee will cost more than the bezel price.

ps: is somebody sell his ExE bezel in black?

coucoujojo, I'm would recommended having a talk over the phone with surefire, it's possible they will send you a new glass window, or even an entire new bezel without you returning it.

The lens on my old SF 6P is pretty cloudy/scratched. Is there any chance this might be covered by warranty - or how to best repair it?

How old?
If it is a classic 6P it will have a snap-fit Lexan window which can be replaced by the end user - SureFire Z17. If you call SureFire I bet they'll send you the kit.

If it's a bezel with plastic window retaining ring then the whole bezel needs to be replaced. Again, give SureFire a call.

I can't recall quite when I bought this 6P. It is order of 20 years, as I recall, but hard to be sure. Marked Laser Products, Fountain Valley. The lens appears to be cemented in front of a machined ring in the bezel. It seems to be plastic. Snap-fit Lexan sounds about right. Could be a gasket behind it appearing to be cemented to the lens.

Thanks for the info!

Alan, I think you'd better give SureFire a call - they may send you a replacement Lexan window kit first, for you to try, or they may just send you a brand new bezel (Z44-BK as being used on the current 6P)

coucoujojo,
You're correct - the metal bezel 'cap' that retains the Pyrex (glass) window of the E1e is not meant to be unscrewed by the user. I don't think SureFire will expect you to return the bezel. Please let us know when SureFire reply.
