hi
on my new Fenix torch when it is on certain setting i can hear a hissing noise from the tail cap?

On the Fenix L1T V2.0, with the bezel set to 'high', I can produce a high-pitched digital sound by holding the switch somewhere between 'on' and 'off'. The light flickers too. I am assuming the electronics become noisy when the contact is intermittent. If the switch on your L1D Q5 has dirty contacts, this may cause the same phenomena.

The new L1T V2.0s should be in Fenix Store soon, for anyone that is interested. With FORWARD click-switch.

well the torch is brand new. the noise happens when it is in sos mode and in the middle light setting.

No. A lot of the digitally regulated lights have that. Some are louder than others.
None of my Fenixes make any noise... my hearing is very sensitive and I can hear tons of noise from cheap DX-type multi-mode lights. I always assumed that the chips that Fenix uses for current regulation were better, which is why they didn't make any noise loud enough to hear...

im new to the torch scene and pretty clueless.

how do you clean the contacts, is there a pictured tutorial also is it possible to remove the cap switch?

My L1T V2.0 also makes a high-pitched squeal, when the forward clicky is activated.

It also stays dim until clicked on, and then intermittently flickers while using momentary on.

Its definitely coming from the forward clicky, and gets louder when held in.

I took the light, and switch, completely apart, and gave it a thorough cleaning.

I also tried 3 different sets of batteries, thinking bad cells were the culprit.

No difference. :thumbsdow

Its been well documented how these original switches were mediocre at best - my first one quit working in the first 15 minutes of use. This is the replacement.

Hopefully, like 4sevens said, Fenix has found a better source for these new switches.

ahh well its nothing serious just a little bit of electrical humming, i do love this torch and im amazed at its power. im already thinking of ordering a tk10:grin2:

I have two of this Fenix P1D Q5 which the turbo setting gives 180 lumens, I test it and I can't hear any high pitch noise. I also test all other setting. This small flashlight is very good EDC light.

can someone show me how to clean the tail cap insides and the contacts please, because i would like to give this ago.
