I got my E1L the other day and am quite impressed. Up to this point, the only quality light I have owned is a fenix EO, which is, in itself, a nice little light. I really like the small size, which was my main consideration when buying it. For such a small light, it really illuminates dark areas intensely. Kind of like having a piece of the sun in your pocket! This light has heft, yet it's very lightweight. Even the batteries for it are light (new to cr123's). The finish and knurling are great as well, but the anodizing seems more of a grey color than OD, which I actually like better. The subtle crenelations? on the bezel add a nice touch to the body of the light and scream "precision engineering". I tested it various places in my house when night fell, and it worked especially good in the creepy attic above my garage. This attic has always been kind of scary, mainly due to the one dim bulb up there, but now that I have my trusty SF I FEAR NOT! The last test was to take it outside and see how well it illuminated things. You see, I live in the country here in mid MI, and when night falls here it gets PITCH dark. I live on the edge of two farm fields and the field to the rear of my yard goes for about 225-250 yards before it reaches the wood line. I stood at the edge of my yard and held the light above my head, and it just barely illuminated the outer trees of the wood line. I'd say that's pretty impressive for a 4.2 inch compact, single cr123 flashlight! Across the road is another small field with about 50 yds to the wood line and I spent a few minutes shining the light at two deer feeding in the soybean field. Fun times! Sorry for the small novel, but my first experiences with this little marvel were so great I just had to share them. Of course, I'm sure many here enjoy reading these ramblings. BTW.. I bought the dual output E1L as suggested by many CPF members....
