Hello,
I have been lurking here occasionally, but today I finally felt compelled to post, about my great experience with Peak LED's customer service. I had been carrying one of the limited edition titanium X15 lights since they came out. 1.5 years ago maybe? It was here that I found out about it; I'm not exactly a 'flashaholic', but I had wanted a titanium light using an AA battery. Those seem to be rare, and my search (starting in the German knifeforum 'messerforum.net') quickly led me here. Anyway, it was a great little light, and it served me well even though I did not treat it like a collector piece.
Then one day late last year I was stupid enough to drop it a bit too hard and too deep - the result was a crack in the reflector and a dangling LED which would produce a weak, flickering light. As that part appeared to be sealed and the light itself was long sold out, I figured it might be doomed and beyond repair. Nevertheless I emailed Peak LED and asked them if the X15 could be saved, and they replied I should send it in so they could take a look at it. So off it went, together with a letter where I emphasized it was my fault and that they should send me a quote if a repair was possible, as I would certainly pay for it.
Today, a few weeks later I find a fat international shipping envelope in my mailbox. Inside is my perfectly functional X15 - Peak LED repaired it (in fact I think they replaced the entire head), they gave me a battery with it (I had not sent one myself to keep the weight down for air mail), they paid for the international shipping back here to Germany, and best of all they treated it as a warranty repair, charging me nothing at all.
Sorry if this is their standard procedure well-known to anyone here, but I was quite amazed.
Thank you very much to Peak LED! I know where my next light will be coming from - actually I was already using one of their steel lights as a substitute during the recent weeks.
Best regards,
Björn
