Hi there  just joined!

Anyway I was wondering... Are there any HID xenon flashlights that are like as small as say the SureFire M3 out there? And if not, why not?

I'm sure size of the thing that makes the high voltage juice limits the size of the lights, but couldn't it simply be re-shaped to fit? and wouldn't one battery do the trick anyway, since we're already fumbling about with 20 minute runtimes on our "high power" lights anyway? The battery could be any voltage one wants too, don't need to stack three or four to get 12 volts or whatever one considers necessary, or one could just make the transformer more powerful so that it turns 3 Volts into however many volts a HID xenon runs on, instead of taking just 12 Volts like in a car battery and doing the same thing. I know I would pay for a light like that if it was M3 size or better and gave off 300/500< lumens of 4200K HID xenon in a throwy package like the M3 head.

Speaking of which, does anyone have any comparison shots between the size of the M3 and a 6P and possibly a H&K USP? I am interested in how long the light is compared to those two items and how bulky. If it looks OK, then I will buy it. But I want it for pocket carrying.

Alternatively I wanna get a 6PN with a 3rd battery extension, double-O-ring every connection on it and get a 9v turbohead capable of using the P91 bulb and also a shock isolated head for it capable of using the P91 or P90 bulb.

A little larger than the M3, but check out the Microfire terminator series

IMO, If you want a light like that, you are better off with a multiple cree/SSC LED light since the ballast of the HID takes up a lot of space in a small light. e.g.

wolfeyes thunder

According to Illumination forums Elektrolumens have 1 Firelion available.
5000+ lux @ 1 meter
580 lumens!
Flashlight uses a super high density 18650 Li-Ion battery. (Must use protected battery).
Dimensions:
Length: 4 7/8 Inches
Head diameter: 1 3/4 "
Body diameter: 1 1/4"
Weight (with battery): 8.8 oz.
It is smaller than the Wolfeyes and similar torches which uses 2x18650 batteries.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. There's also the Peak led first responder (which I own). The WE Thunder throws much better though

First Responder isn't intended to be a thrower. First responders don't need throw - they just need a lot of area light!

That little HID is pretty cool!

Hmmm, the 502 seems most similare to what I am thinking of, but I want it juuust a tad slimmer. like 1/5 inch thinner. And I don't see the point in making the entire light as wide as the bezel, because it does nothing for the grip.

What Kelvin are those lights? I prefer 4200 or similare color.

Also, do they have that annoying cutoff-function if the light gets too hot (which is usually after like 2 minutes)?
