I have some Boro lenses. I also have some cheap Kai glass lenses.
I got the mixed up.
Do I assume this was a cheap lens? I noticed smoke coming out the font of my 6D mag with 64458 bulb.
So is there a way to tell by looking at them? I was surprised when I got my cheapies the edges were really smooth , I guessed they would have farly rough edges making them easy to differentiate. No great problem , unless this does happen to the Boros too?

That looks like evaporated inks on the lenses. Did you try to burn a piece of newspaper with that lens on?

I did do some brief paper burning a couple of days before this. Not much trying with the 64458 though , it's almost instant flame. I'd estimate 5-10 minutes run time after the paper burning was when I noticed (a lot of) smoke coming fom the lens.

Perhaps that lens has a polymer-based coating that has burned. If so, you should be able to scratch the coating using a metal point but be unable to scratch lenses without the coating. Of course, you will want to try near the edge where a scratch would be covered by the bezel anyway.
