It's extremely pointless but I find it interesting that Unforgiven has killed it, and only now. This place is starting to remind me of wikipedia with certain people with extra options who enjoy "playing god"...

Seems more like an "Intermission".

BTW, does anybody have suggestions for a future thread ?

How about permitting an entire sentence ?

Rather than just 3 words or less.

How about permitting someone to post consecutively,

IF nobody else has posted in the past 24 Hours ?

(i've seen it go that long, and wished i coulda' posted again)

Any other suggestions, ground-rules, guidelines, etc. ?

Oh, i certainly wish to thank all of my fellow CPF authors
who collaborated on this electronic masterpiece.

This was the first one of these "things" i'd ever encountered,
and it was a great deal of fun and enjoyment
reading and writing the postings. :)

Many posts showed great imagination, knowledge, satire, and skill. :nana:

Often making me truly Laugh Out Loud !

:lolsign: <---------- Just like that !

Thank you, everyone !

:goodjob: ___ :thanks:

The problem with neverending stories are, they never end.

you want to be careful questioning a moderator like that. in fact im suprised someone isnt already all over this. Unforgiven never said there would never be another one. And for what its worth, i think the mods here do a fine job as they are now.

I come from a long history of being at the short end of the stick when it comes to social heirachy in chat rooms, MUDs (multi user dungeon), forums, wikis etc. so I'm carrying a lot of baggage. People invariably exercise their "power" just for the sake of it or because it makes them feel good.
Not that I really care but in this instance Unforgiven could have told us to run it ourselves if he had grown tired of closing and opening new threads. Why not give the posters freedom rather than imposing his will on them.

Crenshaw, I always believe it's a bad situation when self-consorship is involved because those with "power" can't tolerate criticism. I have seen no evidence of abuse of power at CPF but again, I found this event interesting. I am looking to waste less time at the computer anyway and take a break from this site before I succumb to "flashaholism", so my original post was only a minor footnote, not a major point accusing the mods of doing a bad job.

Also, how would it play out if some started their own thread (as happens on sites like imdb.com).

I'm beginning to see why.

...so I'm carrying a lot of baggage.

Please feel free to carry it somewhere else. No baggage allowed here.

Really? I'm guessing Unforgiven isn't exactly dancing on the table and high-fiveing his wife and daughter and cat... :ironic: ... just a guess though.

All that baggage you have seems to have diminished your ability to see things properly. Sometimes there is no conspiracy or power trip. Sometimes things simply are what they are... and nothing more. Dump the baggage (aka attitude) and you might just have an epiphany in that area.

I'll forgo any further comments on the rest of your comments and simply suggest that you go check out a couple of other forums that might suit you and your baggage a little better. Or you could simply dump your baggage at the door and make yourself at home here... without it... :)

I have retracted my statements in fear they could have been taken personally which I would never do. I was strickly talking about the thread and not those posting in it. But, better safe than sorry.

i never participated in that thread, but i am sure unforgiven has his reasons, and im sure if you seriously object to it, you can PM him and im sure he wouldnt mind opening up a new one.

Speaking of baggage (last time I use American terms) it seems like you've entered this discussion with a major chip on your shoulder, going from your rather vitriolic dissection of my message not directed at anyone in particular. How can you expect this to be a civilised, constructive place if you don't lead by example? (or do you think the sugar-coated last sentence redeems the rest of your message). If I didn't already know you were the site maintainer from a previous discussion I would have thought that you were a troll.

Like I said, I don't care about that particular thread, just at the exercise of "power" in general (on any site). This thread has turned from a molehill into a mountain and I will make no further comment (perhaps by force if Sasha can't resist click the "delete thread" and "ban account" button).

You sure seem to like playing with fire.

Now, I'm just going to sit back and

 ... Now THAT'S funny coming from someone who posts the statement "I'm carrying a lot of baggage..."...

I see. And your choice of title for this thread is not trollish in any way, shape or form? :ironic:

Well... that really does seem like it might be YOUR problem. As Crenshaw so wisely stated, "but i am sure unforgiven has his reasons". Again... perhaps your "baggage" has clouded your ability to reason that one out.

This thread has turned from a molehill into a mountain and I will make no further comment (perhaps by force if Sasha can't resist click the "delete thread" and "ban account" button).

The mountain was created by you with the creation of this thread and it's confrontational title and tone. What did you expect? My guess is that you expected exactly what you got... because the intent was to bait. And yep.. I bit. Want some more rope or are you finished now?

The story to me is mindless fun. Just last week I got "addicted" to it and really had fun just "checking out" and playing. But... like all good things.. there had to be an end...

I agree we need a new one with new rules!! I can arrainge a conference call (US participants only I believe) where we can discuss it :lolsign:

(BTW- the intermission pic was cool!!!)

AvPD,

It would appear the only one with a chip on their shoulder is you. Sasha suggested giving you more rope. So be it. Since you seem to like your "short stick" I would expect it will not take long. I mean, with you following your own example and all. :)

Did "Slim" finally get it? :p
I applaud Unforgiven for putting that thread on time out, I personally had a love/hate relationship with it.
I would constantly see it pop up, get annoyed, then in moments of absolute boredom and idiocy post in it.:ohgeez:

Though I am usually a sucker for a "dare" I will not take the op up on this one.;)
