I noticed that some of my flat faced led torches were starting to wear around the face end, fairly evenly around the bit proud of the lens.

Worked out it was because, although kept in pockets in use, carefully away from metal so as not to mark them, they still got a bit worn face end from being stored in the home Face Down.

Sharpie to the rescue, though obviously not as hard wearing.

So, now I keep my torches on their side, evens out any wear.

I don't have a lot, so they are always being used.

(I suppose you could store them on soft material, small carpet square, etc)

Then again, face down on soft material, torch left on, not a good idea.

Didn't know people cared so much about the wear on their lights. Haha, perhaps I should post my EDC torch - anodization wearing off, lanyard frayed then sealed with my lighter, polyester thread partially melted onto lens from accidental switch on. This one is made to be beaten, I hope my next will get a good treatment.

The absolute VAST majority of my 100+ Lights are ALL face down.

when it comes to lights that roll around, the only way to store them with minimal damage is to store them face down... [btw, a "flat" table doesnt exist in my place:ohgeez:]

With that many, they presumably are not repeatedly placed face down, causing the wear ?

If you like to keep them really nice maybe you could just set them on a microfiber cloth wherever they rest around your house. ;)

LOL
Thought the thread title was about something completely else, had in the back of my head the thread about the guy who put his moded Mag face down on his TV, and burnt a whole through the plastic! :)

If you've only got a few lights get one of those mouse pad sized mats designed to sit on the dash of a car and hold a cell phone in place. They won't slide around and they will help keep your lights from tipping over.

Wear marks adds some character into the lights I reckon. I am proud of my surefires with wear marks on it. They are bought to be used and abused anyway.....my 2 cents

That would be me :D In my defense it wasn't turned on when I put it there though, something in there must've shorted or something and started up the driver (shoddy soldering on my part which has been redone).

why.......the better lights are designed for use, if you want to keep them nice, don't use them, keep them in the package, much like collectible toys.
