Pish posh! Not that hard really, for rural folks in flyover country!
It would be remiss of me to not post that the illumination of the noisy, out of commission windmill was none other than the 5000K Samsung emitter Fraz Labs QT-L flashlight.
Years ago it was decided that the maintenance for that water pumper was too much hassle. Homeowners upped their inverter game with the totally off grid Solar setup they had.
Spinning of the vanes is one kind of sound, but when the whole masthead rotates with the change of wind direction… that has a deeper, equally eerie tone.

Gotta pend the question would such creaking noise actual draw Elk in?
Elk might wander into this area but figure they are higher up. Interesting idea that it could possibly get an elk’s attention.

You might check around the base of the tower, and see if there are any elk antlers stuck in it.
