A couple months ago, I asked FM about running the 1794 on Emoli 18650's. The answer was that it would probably flash since the bulb is already working very hard under Li-Co's. The reason for asking was not a quest for overdrive, but to phase out my larger Li-Co's. I like the inherent safety factor of the Manganese chemistry. Oh well... not like I'm losing sleep, worrying about unprovoked, rapid disassembly of my lithiums.
Yet, I was still curious; Not enough to try it myself, mind you, but figured someone was bound to sooner or later.
Congrats, bx... you are that someone, and are hereby nominated for this months

award!
J/K :naughty:
If there's an upside to taking one (or two in this case) for the team, it's that you've confirmed that FM was right, and have probably saved some of us a bit of money. I'm sure we're not the only ones to think about trying this.
What could be interesting, is AW is working on a soft-start, multi-level driver to fit inside C/P/Z tailcaps, which is just awesomely cool. Hmmmm... I wonder when someone will get the idea to try one with IMR's, and a FM1794. Wadda' ya' think, bx? Can't wait to hear the results.
BTW, you're not alone in discovering just how powerfully destructive these wonderful batteries are. Keep an eye out later tonight for a thread on how AW's IMR16340's burnt, and almost melted the tailcap spring in my C2 (pretty sure it was my fault it happened). I love IMR's!
