I just received my new(and first) SF L1 Cree from a fellow CPF'er. I must say it is an excellent little light and now I know what all the fuss is about. It feels more like a tool than a light and I know many people use it for that purpose. I have read many people mention the knurling and how rough it is and it does give quite a bite on our hand and fingers but I like it.

I like the twisty two stage beam mixed with the clicky button thats a cool feature. The low and high are both very usable amounts of light but it would be nice to have a lower low. I was surprised how large (diameter wise) the hotspot is almost no corona but one giant hotspot with a very soft difussed ringlight corona.

I do have a question - Does anyone know the purpose of the round white dot on the bottom edge of the bezel? It appears to just be a small sticker placed on the light and by lightly rubbing across it feels like it may eventually wear off with use (just slightly raised off the surface of the bezel).

Overall I am very pleased with this light and I am glad to finally join the SF club! :twothumbs

Welcome to the L1-Club, Louis :D

I am impressed with mine, too. Especially outside where the beam proves a fantastic performance for the relatively low lumens it uses. Perfect field coverage in near and mid field illumination, it almost outshines my U2 there.

Yours has a clickie ?? :nana:

My wallet has taken a good beating the past few weeks - I recently received a Regalight WT1 from Lighthound, this SF L1 Cree yesterday and I purchased the Nitecore from a fellow CPF'er that should be here in a couple days! I'm not sure if my bank account is going to hold up!

But I'm sure having fun with all these new lights

Crenshaw - I really admire some of the photography work you have posted - and I really like your avatar ( I know you will find a NDI also!)

Draven451...welcome to the SF Fan Club! Now all you gotta do is join the M6 Club, the Milkyspit Modded Surefires Club, and then the Multiple-M6 Club!

If you think your wallet took a beating the last few weeks...just wait til you see the entrance fee for these clubs!

TTRAN,

Wow you have quite a collection that any father would be proud of!

I have read alot about the Milkyspit mods and have been very tempted to contact him and see what he could do with my L1, but my more rational side is telling me to hold off for now....well unless I find a Novatac 120P that is.... :sssh:

Thanks, Draven. You picked a great versatile light to be your first SF! The L1 is one of the most popular lights right now...even Size15s carries his every day, replacing his old A2. Now if that isn't a vote of confidence, then I don't know what is! :)

Bernie,

Mine has a clicky and a twisty :nana:

Does it CLICK and stay on when you press the tail switch and release your finger from it?

Mine has a momentary switch, where you have to apply pressure to turn on the light, and continue to apply pressure to keep it on, pressing harder activates HI. The only way to engage constant on is to use the twisty.

Wade,

You are correct mine functions as you describe above. I guess clicky was the wrong term to use. Momentary switch would be a better description. My Regalight WT1 is a clicky! :naughty:
