I have fenix PD30 right now and hate it very much.
I find if the batteries are not perfect it does not work like it did when new.

plus these cr123 batteries are expensive

maybe I get ur advise on a replacement.
this time around (2-aa battery) instead of 2cr123

dont car for sos features etc
would be nice just a normal high/low setting
with momentery on feature

waterproof is a bonus

in other words I want a really good flashlight
and one that is not made in china

Try considering the Fenix E21.
It has 2 modes (47 and 150 lumens), is built like a tank, and runs on 2xAA batteries.

This is my recommendation if people ask me for advice on a good solid flashlight without fancy settings.

I agree this would be my first suggestion. Also the PD25 is similar to the E21 but with a plastic sleeve over the body for better grip and cold weather comfort. It's more expensive than the E21 but thought you might look at it. Other than that Fenix doesn't have much that doesn't have the SOS and Strobe. in AA size
